Seed Change Tanzania is a non-profit organisation working with smallholder farmers in Kigoma, Tanzania. Seed Change’s objectives are threefold: 1. Improve productivity of smallholder oil palm farmers in Kigoma 2. Promote sustainable agricultural practices 3.
Poor farmers in the Kigoma region of Tanzania live off land that has been passed on through generations. Seed Change, a community-based organisation, is changing their lives by educating them on sustainable oil palm cultivation to reverse land degradation, with help from RSPO’s Smallholder Support Fund (RSSF).

Seed Change’s operations are based in the Kigoma region of western Tanzania. Once an important slave trading port, Kigoma is now a quiet, lakeside town. Farmers in Kigoma have been cultivating oil palm for over 100 years with over 80% of the population directly reliant on agriculture for their livelihood.
Presently only Indonesia is leading in production and export of world palm crude oil. Capacity: MeTL Group is investing into acquiring additional 25,000 hectors of land for large-scale cultivation. Presently 80% of the local produce is concentrated in Kigoma region and other areas are in Kyela district and some parts of Tanga region.
